The FutureFounder experience: All we need is feedback.

INTRODUCTION

Hello everyone, for I explained what is the Future Founder Fellow Program in just some words, it is a tough challenge, but I will try to do my best. I believe the program is an immersion in startup work culture and different kinds of tools or methodologies related to them. So, I was one of the people selected and I spend four rough and amazing weeks learning and most importantly, practicing a lot. Thereby, the program was divided into four main sessions that were: Strategic Analysis; Design Thinking - Demo Day; Digital Portfolio; Match Day.

THE PROCESS

The first week, we were challenged on strategic analysis and we learned about Objective Key Results (OKR), STEEPLE (Social, Technological, Economic, Environmental, Political, Legal, and Ethical) structure and the SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) Analyzes. Then we had to choose one startup to apply all this new knowledge and so my choice was Agrosmart, you can see all the process, results, and key takeaways in this blog post.

After, we were divided into two teams to develop a solution for a Brazilian current problem, to do that we had to use the Design Thinking methodology to guide us in order to create an innovative product and service. Furthermore, we named ourselves the Unmeat Team and we took the climate change issues specifically about red meat consumption. We did a lot of Desk research (with articles and news) and Primary Market research, through Google Forms which we send to 81 people, next we realized that our problem was how to decrease the red meat consumption, since Valentina (our customer persona) doesn’t have much time, money and also information, but she wishes to do that.

Then, we did a lot of awkward prototypes to try to solve it, as a result, we created the Icomo app, that provides solutions, personalized supermarket list, recipes, and cashbacks, all respecting four main principles: affordable; minimum environmental impact; respect the customer food preferences.

In the third week, we had to develop a pitch presentation on ICOMO, in addition, we had to present it to some guests during ten minutes we presented it, after that, we received questions and advice about it, taking all the information and feedback to add to our project, consequently, we wrote the second blog post collectively on all the experience and described the process.

Finally, We had our Match Day, when we were interviews by startup founders aiming to get an internship, but, before, the Future Founder Team taught us the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, and Result) a technique used to show how we usually act and solve problems. I had the opportunity to talk with the founders of Earth Warriors, One Sky, Berkeley Academy, and Sofia Healthy.

KEY TAKEWAYS

In the end, I believe that FutureFounder Brazil gave me an opportunity to learn things that I usually didn’t see in my previous experiences, in addition, I think that I am able to create new services and products in my future projects. For those who want to be in an entrepreneurial career, what I recommend is to know how to manage your time and know-how to learn with feedback.

Thank You.
